    OUT TO GET ALL

TIME FOR JUSTICE

JUSTICE IS NIGH

SCENE: 1

       (POLICE STATION)

SOUND: Radio fading into the background

DETECTIVE:  This interview begins at thirteen hundred hours.
Mr Simon Andrew Ross you are charged with the murder of twenty family members. How do you plead?

SIMON: I plead not guilty. (A wavering voice that doesn't convince the Detective)

DETECTIVE:   I am about to show the evidence Item number 1 - a piece of clothing we found at the crime scene, where we found the bodies of his cousin and mother at one of the first scenes we attended.

INNER VOICE:   The sound of Simon's mum cut through: “You are guilty and that's all you need to know. Justice is nigh!”

SIMON:  (His face visibly pales) I do not recognise these pieces of clothing! I have never seen them before.

INNER VOICE: Simon's cousin voice accuses Simon. “You have seen this before remember, and we’ll get the justice we deserve.
You are a killer Simon! Justice is nigh!”

LAWYER:  Detective I would like to call for a break in the interview as my clients isn’t looking too well.

DETECTIVE: (speaks to the tape) A break in the interview noted at thirteen thirty hours.

INNER VOICE: Simon's Mum's voice: “Simon tell the truth it's the only way!
No one can live with that sort of guilt.  Justice is nigh!”

SOUND: Door closes as the click of a tape recorder being restarted is heard

Inner voice: Simon’s mums voice: ‘’You will be found out better to tell them now than when it’s too late. Justice will be given to us. You chose the wrong path, and now you can never return to the right path. You are an outcast to the family, and in the eyes of God. Justice is nigh.

DETECTIVE: The interview begins again at fifteen hundred hours.
 (A slight pause before continuing)

I am showing Mr Simon Ross item number 2. For the benefit of the tape recording I am showing Mr Ross a knife that was found at the scene of the crime. The knife has been identified as the murder weapon with both your Mum's and Dad's blood on it. How do you explain this? (before Simon can answer his Dad's voice pops into his head again)

SOUND: Wind whistling

INNER VOICE:  Simon’s cousin voice:   Simon you have seen this before, REMEMBER. GET US THE JUSTICE WE DESERVE! You are nothing but a killer justice is nigh!

DETECTIVE:   Simon do you recognize this knife?

SIMON:  I have only seen this particular knife when my mum has been preparing food for cooking in the kitchen.

DETECTIVE: (sighs heavily as not getting anywhere) We found your fingerprints all over the kitchen. HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT?

LAWYER:   At this time I have advised my client to exercise his right to reply with ‘No Comment.’

INNER VOICE:   Simon’s cousinvoice:  Simon don’t let our deaths be in vain!  TELL THE TRUTH!  You know exactly why your finger prints are around the kitchen.  Justice is nigh!

DETECTIVE: I am about to show MR Ross item number 3 that we discovered at the second crime scene. For the purpose of the tape recorder I am showing Mr Ross a piece of cloth that we identified belonging to the deceased man – his cousin.

SOUND:  Rustling of papers as he pulls a bag from a pile of evidence next to him.

DETECTIVE: The item that I am exhibiting is a piece of cloth covered in blood. After it had been sent for forensic examination the lab scientists concluded that it belonged to the clothing from a dead body found in the garden. The finger prints found upon it belong to Mr Simon Ross.

INNER VOICE: Cousinvoice:” Let me have the justice that I deserve!
Let all of us including your cousin have justice!
Justice is nigh!!”

SIMON: My cousin’s dead!!(voice wavering) I didn't know! Why was I not informed of this before?

INNER VOICE: Simon’s cousin: ‘Don’t lie Simon, you don’t deserve to walk away from this horror. You murdered us all and you need to end up in jail to rot for a long, long time! Justice is nigh!

DETECTIVE: We know that you were there the day your cousin was killed. We have eyewitness statements from your neighbours stating that you were seen at fourteen hundred hours.

SIMON: But I have an alibi for that day. I’m sure you are interested to hear it!

DETECTIVE: What then is your alibi for that day?
(Simon turns to his Lawyer who nods at him as if giving her permission)

SIMON: I did go around to my cousin's house that day, but I didn't go there to murder my cousin. I helped him clear out the attic. I was there from Ten in the morning until Three in the afternoon.

DETECTIVE: The Coroner stated that your cousin's death occurred about four o'clock in the afternoon. I am about to show Mr Ross item number 4; for the purpose of the tape it is a picture that had been taken around about four o'clock by a neighbour when she heard shouting. The photo shows Mr Ross' car being outside of his cousin's house at that time. I put it to you Mr Ross why was your car at your cousin's house around about that time.

SIMON: My lawyer has instructed me at this time to exercise my right to ‘no comment.’

INNER VOICE: Simon's Mum’s voice: All we want is justice Simon is that too much to ask for? Justice is nigh!

SOUND: a gunshot

LAWYER: I propose a break in the interview so that I can continue to speak to my client on my own.

DETECTIVE: Interview suspended at nineteen hundred hours. Interview will continue at ten hundred hours tomorrow.

INNER VOICE: In his sleep Simon cries out: leave me alone leave me alone I haven't done anything wrong.

The following day…

DETECTIVE: The interview begins on Day Two at ten hundred hours.
I am about to show Mr Ross an item of clothing discovered where his mum's body was found.

INNER VOICE: Simon's mum's voice: You will never be accepted by our family again you mean nothing to us! You are a traitor and need to be dealt with accordingly. Justice is nigh!

SIMON: (putting his head in his hands) Aargh! Leave me alone!!

DETECTIVE: (In a concerned voice at the sudden outburst)  Mr Ross are you alright?

LAWYER: Of course he isn't! What have you people been doing to him?

DETECTIVE: (switches of the tape recorder before turning back with a concerned look on his face) Don't blame us Mrs Andrews we have done nothing to him; he was fine this morning when we got him out of his cell.

SOUND: A GUN SHOT

SIMON: Get out of my head! Get out, get out, get out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LAWYER: I suggest we take a break. It’s obvious my client isn't in the right frame of mind.

DETECTIVE: (calls to two officers outside the interview room) Take Mr Ross back to the cells.

SIMON: (as he is taken out of the interview room) I don't deserve this! I am not a killer!

DETECTIVE: (speaking to one of his colleges outside the interview room)
I think the pressure of this all has got to him. I think his conscience is troubling him.

SOUND: Police sirens (about 30 seconds)

LAWYER: (In the cells where Simon has bee taken to calm down.)
Simon are you alright now? (asking in a worried voice)

SIMON: (staring into space, a slight pause before he answers)
Why won't they leave me alone? Why won't they leave me alone?

LAWYER: (apprehensive voice) Who are these people you are talking about Simon?

SIMON: (screaming) Get away! Get away! None of you are safe!!

LAWYER: (backing away towards the cell door) I'm going to go now Simon.
You know how to get in contact with me if you need to discuss anything.

SIMON: Get away, flee for you are all in peril! Please listen to me otherwise you will al die just like my family did!

SOUND: Gun shots

(Scene switches to the court case)

JUDGE: Mr Simon Andrew Ross you are charged with at least twenty known members of your own family.

INNER VOICE: An unknown family member: justice is nigh!

JUDGE: the jury will adjourn so they can make a decision on the case.

A FAMILY MEMBER: (shouts out from the gallery) Make the right decision don't let him walk free! (The jury walks out the room)

(After a few hours the jury returns offering their verdict)

A FAMILY MEMBER: Justice at last for Millie, Andrew, James, Ella, Millie, Edward, Reece, Alex, Ben, Isabella, Lilli, Thomas, Mandy, Samuel, David, Abigail, Tristan, Alec, Sophie and, Alice. Rest in Peace. You will always be remembered and, always missed.

INNER VOICE: Simon's mum's voice: ‘Justice at last! Simon will never be able to live with himself; poor, poor Simon Andrew Ross. He chose the wrong path and strayed from his true destiny.

Thirty three seconds later – A sound of screaming and sobbing

SIMON:  I’m so sorry… I’m so sorry… how could I have possible done all that!

(Stumbles out of his bed and walks over to his computer screen, hugging it and sobbing) I’m sorry my SIM City Family! I promise not to mix valium and vodka before bedtime!

Sobbing eventually dies away…

After all the changes I decided to stick with this script with a twist in the end meaning it's not what the listeners will have been listening to had gone on.
