Photoshop Tutorial - Tool Uses and Basics

This tutorial showed me the basic's of how to use photoshop as i was using it for the first time.

Scene 1

Set: Uncle Maxwell's funeral

Mum: Simon do that button  up and tuck your shirt in, at least try and look a bit presentable. It's your uncle's funeral share some respect.

Simon: (A Loud groan errupts from Simon) Leave me alone woman you have already done enough damage, by not givng me the money that was left for me in the will. I told you I wouldn't forgive you and I still haven't.

Dad: Stop talking to us like that, what happened to the little boy who didnt ever argue with us.

Simon: I don't know where you get these ideas from, I hate you I have always hated you. All the family is looking at me smugly, they know that they have all gained. Whereas I have lost everything, as you wanted the money for yourselves.

Mum: why would we want to steal money from you, when you are the one starting to set up a new home? That money wasn't rightly your's, you tricked your uncle and you know it.

Simon: you always want to think the worst of me you can never see the good in me, why is it the only person who could see any good in me is now dead. He wanted to help me, he knew I needed money and he was willing to take the chance on me.

Dad: if you don't calm your temper down, if you don't you can leave now.

Simon: (under his breath Simon mutters) why don't I leave now everyone seems to hate me anyway.

Dad: What was that Simon? (Trying to comfort his wife, while at the same time trying not to loose his temper with his son.)

The scene fades out for a couple of minutes before it cuts back into the minister speaking as the funeral begins.

Minister: we are gathered here today to celebrate the life of George Maxwell, a beloved father, a beloved son, a beloved father, and a beloved Uncle. (There are many sounds of people crying around what is presumed to be a room.)

After a thirty second pause a member of the families voice cuts in.

Family member: George manyof you know was an amazing man, from his life in the army where he recieved many medals for bravery and vala. George was an amazing man who loved his family dearly, and wanted his family to always be in the hearts of him. We will never forget him, his ending was terrible. I know if he was here he wouldnt want us to be sitting around crying, he would want us to be getting on with our lives.

Once more I asked my focus group about this idea, they didnt like this idea as well as my first one. They thought it didn't have the same tension, and many of them found it a bit boring knowing about the first idea that I had.

First idea for radio play

Scene 1: 

Set: Family home argument going on about the diseased Uncle's will.  Comes into the scene with raised angry voices about what happened to the money off the mantel piece. 

Background radio fades out

 Simon: Where is the money that Uncle Maxwell left me under the mantle piece??? 

Mum: (Mum pauses for a second before she speaks again, trying to keep the anger building inside of her from not coming out) It was never yours. You know your Uncle Maxwell was delusional towards the end of his life, due to the fact that he was dying of cancer. (Say's Calmly) 

Simon: It's even written in his will that he left the money to me. So where is it????? If you don't tell me you will regret it!!! (He shouts loud enough so that the next door neighbours hear it) 

Dad: Son don't speak to me or your mother like that. It might be in the will but the doctor's even agree that in his deluded state. You son was taking advantage of his situation. Don't try and tell us we are in the wrong, you will never get the money.

A silence falls upon the room before Simon gets up and storms out the room and out the house shouting and swearing as he goes. The car starts up, before he goes down the driveway. 

Simon: Mark my words you will regret his decision. This won't be the last you've heard from me. (Said in a menacing voice) 

Mum: (Runs out the house after Simon). Simon come back inside and let's sit down and talk about this. I will always love you. (She shouts as Simon pulls out the driveway and disappears out of sight).

(Mum goes back into the house into the kitchen where she sits down and cry's, as the dad enters the room she looks up and speaks. 

Mum: What are we going to do with Simon??(She wails) He knew that the money wasn't really for him; I feel like we should just give him the money and that will end the problems. 

Dad: Edith this isn't your fault Simon still hasn't grown up properly and still can't define between what's right and what's wrong. Give him some time and he will calm down. 

The sound of the radio cuts in again over the two people's voices after about ten seconds there is no sound at all. 

Scene 2: 

As the play begins again there is the sound of sirens comes across. 

Police: Mr and Mrs Ross, we have had reports of gun fire coming from the house, is everything ok? (After a lengthy pause) We're coming in. 

A neighbour: Police I have a key, I'm the one who phoned you I was worried when I didn't see them for days after the gin fire. 

This was my first idea when I had decided what to do, this would have been the beginning of the play to set the rest of the play up. In the end I decided this wasn't going to be a strong enough opening, and I wouldn't be able to develop it further. Talking to my focus group they also thought that this wouldn't be an opening that they were too interested in listening to, they thought that the idea of my play would fit perfectly into this first idea I had.
